Balancing Commissions and Original Animal Art: A Creative Journey

As an artist, there’s something incredibly rewarding about creating original pieces of animal art. Whether it's capturing the spirit of a wild creature or bringing a beloved pet to life on canvas, these moments of creativity fuel my passion. However, like many artists, commissions take up the majority of my time. While they come with their own set of challenges, they also provide opportunities for growth, connection, and storytelling.

The Joy of Original Work

When I get the chance to work on my own pieces, I find it both liberating and fulfilling. Without the constraints of a client’s vision, I can explore new techniques, experiment with different styles, and let my creativity flow naturally. These personal projects allow me to refine my skills and push the boundaries of what I can create. Often, they serve as a source of inspiration for my commission work, allowing me to bring fresh ideas and techniques to each client’s request.

The Rewarding Nature of Commissions

Commissioned work, on the other hand, comes with its own rewards. Each piece is a collaboration between me and the client, turning their vision into a tangible artwork. The stories behind each commission are often heartwarming and meaningful—whether it’s a tribute to a beloved pet, a unique gift, or a cherished family memory. These connections remind me why I love what I do.

Finding the Balance

Balancing original work with commissions isn’t always easy, but I’ve found a few ways to make it work:

Scheduling Time for Personal Projects: Setting aside dedicated time for my own art ensures I continue to grow as an artist and nurture my passion.

Selective Commissions: Accepting projects that align with my artistic style and interests keeps me engaged and motivated.

Embracing Both Sides of Creativity: Viewing commissions as opportunities for creative collaboration rather than restrictions helps me enjoy the process even more.

Whether I’m working on a commissioned piece or creating an original artwork, my love for animals and art remains at the heart of it all. Each piece tells a story, and I’m grateful to be the one bringing those stories to life.

If you’re interested in a commission or want to see more of my original work, feel free to reach out—I’d love to create something special for you!
